Angelina Jolie (born Angelina Jolie Voight on June 4, 1975) is an American actress and goodwill ambassador for refugees. She has received three Golden Globe, two Screen Actors guild Awards and the Oscars. Jolie promoting humanitarian causes around the world, and noted in her work with refugees through UNHCR. She cited as one of the most beautiful women and his life off-screen widely reported. [1] 

Although the screen, she made her debut as a child with father Jon Voight in the 1982 film Lookin 'to go, Jolie career began in earnest a decade later with a low budget production Cyborg 2 (1993). His first role in a film major in hackers (1995). It is very happy in a biographical film of the famous George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998), and received the Oscar for supporting actress best for her work in the drama Girl, interrupted (1999). Jolie has increased after the famous image of the video game heroine Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb raider (2001), and has since established himself as one of the best known and highest paid actress in Hollywood. [2] This was the success of its largest commercial action comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005) and the animated Kung Fu panda (2008) [3]. 

I divorced from actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie currently lives with actor Brad Pitt, in order to have attracted media attention worldwide. Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children, Maddox, pax, and Zahara, as well as three biological children, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

In early life and family  

Born in Los Angeles, California, Jolie is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. She is the niece of Chip Taylor, sister of James Haven and the goddaughter of  Jacqueline Bisset and Maximilian Schell. His father, Jolie is Czechoslovakian and German [4] [5], and her mother, she is part of the French and Canadians are considered part Iroquois. [6] [7] However, Bertrand said Voight was "not seriously Iroquois," and they just said that to enhance his ex-wife of exotic background [8].

After her parents' separation in 1976, Jolie and her brother were raised by their mother, who left her ambitions and moved in with him in Palisades, New York. [9] as a child, Angelina Jolie regularly saw movies with her mother and later explained that she had inspired her interest in acting, it does not depend on his father. [10] When she was eleven years old, the family moved to Los Angeles, and she wanted Jolie has decided to act and enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, where training for a period of two years and appeared in several theatrical productions. She recalled later as a student at Beverly Hills High School (later Secondary Moreno) and his sense of isolation among children in some areas, more affluent families. Jolie's mother survived on a modest income, and Jolie often wore second-hand clothes. She was teased by other students who also targeted for its distinctive, with a very thin and wears glasses and braces. [10] His self-esteem decreased during their first attempts at modeling proved unsuccessful. She began to cut himself, later commenting, "I collected knives and always had certain things around. At age 14, she abandoned the course and his dream of becoming a funeral director. [12] During  this period, she wore black clothes, dyed hair and a Purple moshing with her live in another. In July 2002, Angelina Jolie filed a request to legally change his name to "Angelina Jolie", dropping Voight as her name, the name change was formalized in September 12, 2002. [14] In August of the same year, Voight claimed that his daughter had "serious mental health problems" on Access Hollywood. Subsequent Jolie said she no longer wished to continue the relationship with his father and said: "My father and I do not say. I am not an anger against him. I do not think anyone in the family becomes their blood. Of my son and the family won.  Early work, 1993-1997

Jolie began working as a model when she was 14 years, mainly in modeling in Los Angeles, New York and London. She appeared as Gina Malacici the 1996 comedy Love all there is to lose a modern adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet, set between two rival families owners of Italian restaurant in the Bronx, New York . In the road movie Mojave Moon (1996), she was a young man named Eleanor Rigby, who falls for Danny Aiello, but he took a shine to her mother, played by Anne Archer. In 1996, Angelina Jolie has also represented Margret "Legs" Sadovsky, one of five girls who form a link in the film Foxfire after hitting a teacher who sexually harassed them. Breakthrough, 1997-2000 

Jolie career began to improve after its effectiveness as Cornelia Wallace in the 1997 biographical film George Wallace for which she received the Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy Award. The role of Gary Sinise Alabama Governor George Wallace. The film, directed by John Frankenheimer, was acclaimed by critics and, among other awards, received a Golden Globe for Best Miniseries / film for television. She played the second wife, the former governor of segregation, who was shot and paralyzed in 1972 while working for the American president. 

In 1998, Jolie shot to HBO Gia, representing supermodel Gia Carangi. The film depicts the world of sex, drugs and emotional drama, and chronicled the destruction of Carangas life and career, because of their addiction, and its reduction and death from AIDS. Vanessa Vance from Reel.com noted, "Angelina Jolie achieved widespread recognition for its role as holder Gia, and it is easy to understand why. Jolie is fierce in the image to fill the part with nerve, charm, and desperation, and its role in this film is probably the most beautiful train wreck ever filmed. "[20] For the second consecutive year, Jolie won the Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy Award. In addition, she won her first Screen Actors Guild Award. According to the method of Lee Strasberg acting appears Jolie prefers to remain in the nature of the scenes in several of his early films, and consequently won the reputation of being difficult to treat. In 1999, she turned to Mike Newell in the comedy-drama Pushing Tin, co-starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett. Jolie played Thornton in the charming wife. The film received a mixed reception from critics and Jolie character, especially criticism. The Washington Post says: "Mary (Angelina Jolie), a completely ludicrous writer of the creation of the spirit of a woman who weeps over hibiscus plants that die, many turquoise rings and solitaire becomes real when Russell spends entire nights away from home. "[24] She then worked with Denzel Washington Bone Collector (1999), an adaptation from a novel written by Jeffery Deaver. Jolie plays Amelia Donaghy, a police officer pursued the suicide of his father who reluctantly helps Washington COP track down a serial killer. The film gross $ 151 million worldwide, [3], but is a critical failure. Detroit Free Press concluded, "Jolie, always delicious to watch, it is simply false and depressing. "[25] Jolie turns in one of the minds of the current nature of the films, free of firearms, someone has a deadly aim. "

Jolie has adopted this role in supporting the sociopath Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted (1999), the film tells the story of mental patient Susanna Kaysen, which was adapted from the original memories Kaysen Girl, Interrupted. While Winona Ryder played the main character of this hope that she returns to in the film instead of Jolie final marked a breakthrough in Hollywood. [27] She won her third Golden Globe Award, her second Screen Actors Guild Award and the Oscar for best supporting actress. In 2000, Jolie appeared in her first summer blockbuster, took in 60 seconds, in which she played Sarah "power" Wayland, ex-girlfriend's car thief Nicolas Cage. The role was small, and the Washington Post criticized that "everything she does in this movie is stand around, cooling, simulation of these fleshy, pulsating muscle-nesting tubes provocatively in his teeth." [29] She later explained that the film has been a good help after a role of Lisa Rowe, and became the highest gross film so far, after receiving $ 237 million at the international level [3].

 An international success, 2001-present 

Although praised for her acting abilities, Jolie films are often not appealed to a wide audience, but Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), made his international star. Adaptation of the popular video game Tomb Raider, Angelina Jolie was required to obtain a British accent and undergo martial arts to play the title role of Lara Croft. Jolie returned to the role of Lara Croft in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life in 2003. Subsequently, and not as lucrative as the original, received $ 156 million in international box office. [3] Later that same year, Jolie toured Beyond Borders, a film about aid workers in Africa. Although reflecting Jolie real interest in providing humanitarian relief, the film was disappointing and financially difficult. In 2004, Angelina Jolie has played Olympias in Alexander, Oliver Stone's biographical film about the life of Alexander the Great. It appears in the upcoming Robert De Niro in "Good Shepherd" (2006), a film about the early history of the CIA, as seen through the eyes of Edward Wilson, played by Matt Damon. Jolie played the supporting role of Margaret Russell, Wilson's neglected wife. According to the Chicago Tribune, "Jolie convincingly throughout the ages, and blithely indifferent, because it is fragile in terms of audience ahead of sympathy." [37]

In 2007, Angelina Jolie made her debut with the documentary A Place in Time, which captures life in 27 locations around the globe during a single week. The film was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival and is intended to be distributed through the National Education Association, mainly in secondary schools [38]. Jolie starred as Mariane Pearl in Michael Winterbottom's documentary-style drama A Mighty Heart (2007), about the kidnapping and murder of the reporter from The Wall Street Journal Daniel Pearl in Pakistan. The table is based on the memoirs of Mariane Pearl A Mighty Heart and had its first at the Festival de Cannes. The Hollywood Reporter described Jolie performance as "well-made and moving", played "with respect and a solid understanding of the difficult accent." [39] The film earned her a fourth Golden Globe Award and a third Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. Jolie co-star alongside James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman in 2008, action film Wanted, an adaptation of a graphic novel by Mark Millar. The film received mostly positive feedback and proved an international success, earning $ 342 million worldwide [3]. It also provided the voice of Master Tigress in the animated film from DreamWorks Kung Fu Panda (2008). With a turnover of $ 632 million internationally, he became the highest grossing film to date [3]. The same year, Jolie plays Christine Collins, the lead in Clint Eastwood drama Changeling (2008), which had its first at the Festival de Cannes. Humanitarian action

Jolie first person known worldwide humanitarian crises while filming Tomb Raider in Cambodia. She eventually turned to UNHCR for more information on hot spots of tension. [43] In the following months, she visited refugee camps around the world to learn more about the situation and conditions in these areas. In February 2001, Jolie had her first trip in 18 days of the mission in Sierra Leone and Tanzania, she expressed shock at what she saw. [43] In the coming months, she returned to Cambodia in two weeks, then met with Afghan refugees in Pakistan where she donated $ 1 million Afghan refugees, according to the call of the international emergency UNHCR. [44] She insisted on covering all costs related to its mission and share the same rudimentary working and living conditions of UNHCR staff on the ground, all of its visitors. [43] Jolie was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR on 27 August 2001, the UNHCR headquarters in Geneva. [45]

Jolie was in the field throughout the world and met with refugees and displaced persons in over 20 countries worldwide. [46] Asked what she hopes to achieve, she said: "The awareness of the situation. I think they should be commended for what they did not look. "[47] In 2002, Jolie visited the Tam Hin refugee camp in Thailand and Colombian refugees in Ecuador. [48] Jolie then different services to the UNHCR in Kosovo and a visit to Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, most of the refugees from Sudan. She also met with Angolan refugees while filming outside the borders of Namibia. 

In 2003, Jolie embarked on a six-day mission to Tanzania where she traveled to the west of the border camps, hosting Congolese refugees and she paid a week's visit to Sri Lanka. She later completed a four-day visit to Russia, when she went to the North Caucasus. With the release of the film outside the limits, she has published notes of my travels, a collection of journal entries chronicle his early field missions (2001-2002). During the private visit to Jordan in December 2003 she asked to visit Iraqi refugees in Jordan, in the eastern desert and later that month, she went to Egypt to meet Sudanese refugees. 

At its first UN mission to the United States, Jolie went to Arizona in 2004, visiting detained asylum seekers at three facilities and the Southwest Key Program, a for street children in Phoenix. She flew to Chad in June 2004, visit to the border and in refugee camps who have fled fighting in western Sudan, Darfur. Four months later, she returned to the region, this time directly into West Darfur. In addition, in 2004, Jolie met with Afghan refugees in Thailand and the private residence in Lebanon during the Christmas holidays she visited UNHCR's regional office in Beirut, as well as some young refugees and cancer patients in the Lebanese capital. [49] 

In 2005, Jolie visited Pakistani camps of Afghan refugees, and also met with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, she returned to Pakistan with Brad Pitt over the weekend of Thanksgiving in November for see the impact of the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir. In 2006, Jolie and Pitt flew to Haiti and visited a school supported by Yele Haiti, the charity based Haitian-born hip hop musician Wyclef Jean. While filming A Mighty Heart in India, Jolie met with Afghan and Burmese refugees in New Delhi. She spent Christmas 2006 with Colombian refugees in San José, Costa Rica, where gifts distributed. In 2007, Angelina Jolie returned to Chad for a two-day mission to assess the deteriorating security situation for refugees from Darfur, Jolie and Pitt subsequently donated $ 1 million to three relief organizations in Chad and Darfur . [50] Jolie also made her first visit to Syria, and went twice to Iraq, where she met with Iraqi refugees, as well as several national forces and U.S. troops. [51]

Over time, Jolie became more involved in promoting humanitarian causes on a political level. She regularly attended the World Refugee Day in Washington, DC, and was a guest speaker at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2005 and 2006. Jolie also began lobbying humanitarian interests of U.S. capital, where she met with members of Congress at least 20 times since 2003. [45] She explained in Forbes: "As much as I would never have to travel to Washington, is the way to move the ball." [45] 

In 2005, Angelina Jolie took part in a lunchtime National Press Club, where she announced the creation of the National Center for immigrant children and refugees, an organization that provides free legal assistance to children seeking asylum with no legal representation which Jolie personally funded with a donation of $ 500,000 for its first two years [52]. Jolie also pushed for several bills to aid refugees and vulnerable children in the Third World. [45] In addition to his political involvement, Jolie began using her public profile to promote humanitarian causes through the media. She filmed a MTV special, The Diary of Angelina Jolie & Dr. Jeffrey Sachs in Africa, and he noted economist Dr. Jeffrey Sachs on a trip of a group of remote villages in the western Kenya. In 2006, Angelina Jolie announced the founding of the Jolie / Pitt Foundation which made initial donations to Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders $ 1 million each. [53] Jolie also co-chairs of the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, founded at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2006, which helps fund education programs for children affected by conflict [54]. 

Jolie has received wide recognition for his humanitarian work. In 2003 she was the first recipient of the World Citizen Award by the Association of Correspondents United Nations and in 2005 she received the Global Humanitarian Award by the UNA-USA. [55] King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni awarded Jolie Cambodian citizenship for her conservation work in the country on 12 August 2005, she pledged $ 5 million to create a nature reserve in north-western province of Battambang and owns property. [56] In 2007, Angelina Jolie became a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, [57] and received the Freedom Prize by the International Rescue Committee [58].

Relationships

28 March 1996, Jolie married British actor Jonny Lee Miller, her co-star in the movie Hackers (1995). She attended her wedding in black trousers and white shirt, on which it was written on behalf of the husband in his blood. [59] Jolie and Miller separated the following year and then divorced in 1999 to 3 February. They remained on good terms and Jolie explained by the following: "It is time. I think it is in the best husband a girl could ask for. I will always love him, we were too young." [21] 

When shooting Pushing Tin (1999), she met American actor Billy Bob Thornton, and later married on 5 May 2000. Because of their frequent public declarations of passion and gestures of love should be celebrated each other in blood vials around their necks-their relationship became a favorite subject of entertainment media. [60] Jolie and Thornton divorced on 27 May 2003. Replying to a question about the sudden dissolution of marriage, Jolie said: "It took me by surprise, because the night, we totally changed. Children

10 March 2002, Angelina Jolie adopted her first child, seven months, Maddox Chivan. [14] He was born on 5 August 2001, as Rath Vibol in Cambodia and he initially lived in an orphanage in Battambang. Jolie decided to apply for adoption after having visited Cambodia twice, while filming Tomb Raider and the UNHCR mission in 2001. After her divorce from her second husband, Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie received sole custody of Maddox.
